Castlevania: Simon's Destiny Review
KONAMI’s gothic adventure game franchise returns in this installment, taking you into the world of the Belmont clan and their fight against Dracula. This latest Castlevania takes Metroidvania gameplay and adds new elements that make it feel fresh and new.
Players can choose to play as John or Eric, both of which have different attack items (bless water, axe, and boomerang). They must clear each stage by killing enemies, finding gems (hearts in earlier games) that power special weapons, and taking in the coat of arms item that increases the power of each character’s weapon. Players can also re-encounter some enemies if they are able to kill a boss at the end of each stage.
If a player loses all of their life, the game is over. However, if they are able to find the magic crystal that drops from the boss at the end of each stage, their life will be restored.
During the course of the story, characters will level up, and they can unlock new items and attack skills for their character. Additionally, if they manage to capture the souls of slain monsters, they can add them to their character.
There are a lot of interesting features in this game, including the ability to double jump and do a variety of secondary attacks. It is a fun action-exploration game that fans of the franchise will enjoy. In addition to the single-player campaign, there is a co-op mode that allows players to beat missions together or compete against each other in speed runs.
